I had this notebook for maybe a decade. A year ago it became the place I wrote what I was going through, poem after poem, by hand.
It is weathered now, but holding together. An 8×10 Moleskine — and this book is the same size as the notebook it came from. The poems are reprinted page for page, the handwriting exactly as it was written.
What you hold is not a book about that time. It is the thing itself.
The title came to me while I was thinking what to name it, because it fit so much of what the poems are about. Then I found the word was already in one of the poems. The book knew its name before I did.
Someone very lost and confused. Someone who tried to do the right thing by following all the rules society handed them, and is slowly feeling disillusioned with what they were given. Someone starting to break off the beaten path — toward oneness, toward personal divinity, toward the realization that the world is all illusions, toward a kind of homecoming.
You may be religious. You may be spiritual. You may be neither. This book is meant to give you that feeling either way — and to get you out of a rut, focused on yourself, bettering your own life, not depending on anything external.
Writing these poems down helped me see my own divinity. This book did for me the exact thing I hope it does for you: it helped me remember myself, and come back to completeness within myself.
I am not selling you a promise I have not tested. I am the first reader it worked on.
Big realizations. Epiphanies. Inspiration, strength, energy. Maybe just a little sadness — and ultimately, overwhelming joy in creativity, in life, in existence, in being a human at this time.
